Once in Tokyo, Mao got a job as a salesman in the McRonalds restaurant chain (a parody of the McDonald's brand). Here he quickly excelled and was promoted to assistant manager. Mao later succeeded in bringing back the forces of the Lord of Darkness for a short time. This was due to Lucifer, another demon general who gained strength from the desperation and fear of people. Chiho is a positive and sweet girl who has nothing to do with the war between demons and angels, but often finds herself in the thick of things. So it's not surprising that Chiho soon finds out about Maou and Emilia's parentage. But this does not scare the girl at all. On the contrary, the Prince of Darkness does not seem to her the embodiment of the universal hall.
Mao himself treats Chiho more like a little sister and considers himself responsible for her safety. In addition, he believes that the girl's love is due to the fact that once on Earth, Mao hypnotized her father, and Chiho fell under the influence of demonic magic.
There is only one unresolved question related to this animated series: “How many seasons is there in the anime “Satan on the side”?” To date, there is only 1 season, which was released back in 2013. And there is no information that the anime will have a sequel.
In 2014, I first came across this anime and immediately started watching it. Then, perhaps due to my age, I quite liked it. I quit on episode 10, because at that time I never watched the titles that hooked me, trying to somehow delay the end. And now, five years later, I decided to watch these unfortunate three episodes in order to forever throw it into the "viewed" folder. And, unfortunately (or fortunately?), Absolutely disappointed. I can’t say that at that time I was particularly attracted to the characters, but there was something like that. After all, who didn't like it? But now nothing. Absolutely nothing. I did not experience any emotions from the ending, except for misunderstanding.
It was funny to play with that umbrella story in the scene after the ending, but, as for me, it is completely inappropriate. Make the last series final? Really...why?
There is simply zero romance here, I saw only a semblance of unrequited love and nothing more.
To be honest, I really expected that there would be at least some disclosure of the relationship. But from where they started, they came to that. And this applies not only to the relationship between and . I feel sorry for the poor, forgotten girl. Throughout the story, I felt that she was there as superfluous as possible. Satan at work! (Hataraku Maou-sama!)
First of all, it's worth saying that I started to perceive anime as something higher than a children's cartoon quite recently. There are many anime, all different and each has its own genre.
Mystery, comedy, drama. That's about all you can expect from a particular anime. After reading what people write about "Satan", I realized what they want to see: A masterpiece, where each hero is a person about whom 10 books of analysis can be written, a bunch of dynamic battles, a huge magical world that does not allow earthlings to live, and a lot of humor, yes, such that it is worth the hero to hiccup and it should tear the navel no worse than the early Petrosyan. Dear, don't you think that you are too demanding? Why can't you enjoy a simple, heartfelt comedy with a touch of fantasy, funny situations and good characters? Namely, this is the "Satan on the side"
The story begins in the parallel world of Ente Isla, engulfed in the flames of war. Everything is standard for the fantasy genre “The Lord of Darkness Satan gathers an army and attacks four island continents. But there is a Hero who unites people, goes to Satan and defeats him. Well? Sadness, sadness, the Dark Lord runs along with his general to a random world that turned out to be Earth and understands that instead of goat legs, heaps of muscles and horns, he has a “Right, Left” and a dead body, and nothing is left of magic. And so the demons learn to live in the world of people, in the bodies of people and according to the laws of people. Satan gets a job at some kind of McDonald's, and moves up the career ladder. Satan is a cashier at McDonald's. I think it's very funny. In general, the first four episodes are just perfect. Claims appear after, and even then not for everyone.
In our world, there is also a Hero who starts the hunt for Satan and attacks him with a small knife for 10 rubles in her hands. And then, together with him, he ends up in the police for "Family stabbing" And the long and difficult relationship between the hero and Satan begins. Each main character, in my opinion, deserves a separate word, so:
Lord Satan Mao himself is an entertaining character. Extremely responsible, intelligent, hardworking and eccentric. He is a fairly standard image of a young man, the main character, but catchy. The problem is all in the stereotype: the demon must be evil and cruel, because I am Vasya Pupkin and I said so. But the bad thing is that Vasya Pupkin turns out to be the screenwriter himself, who in the first series described in detail “Satan attacked the human race and his troops robbed and killed.” After that, on earth, we are assigned a good-natured, zealous guy saving people from misfortunes from Ente Isla. There is a split, but I personally think that it can be forgiven. So there are two phrases in the argument.

So what's stopping him from changing? That you, the viewer, read the bible? Or deeds of the past? The past is in the past. Emilia is the second protagonist of the anime. The hero of Enta Isla, because of which Mao left his world. Jumped after Satan into the portal in order to kill him. Amy is a classic bitch with small breasts. Their dialogues with Mao are well-written and looking at their communication you can really tell that they are old enemies in the same boat. Their skirmishes, funny situations and verbal duels play an extremely important role. Particularly pleasing are the moments when each character asks if Amy and Mao are dating. In general, if we talk about pairings, it is Amy and Mao who, in my opinion, are the most successful.
However, Amy is a very controversial character. She, whose father died due to the fault of the demons of the lord of darkness, she who has been trained to kill the lord all her life, with each series is getting closer to Mao. However, I will justify Amy this way. Before their fight, she didn't know Mao, and after receiving heartfelt help from him, she may have decided to take a closer look at Mao. And Mao's good deeds, as well as life in the world of people, understanding them and getting closer to them, convinced Amy not to act radically, but to wait.
(I would also give Emilia the crown of the beauty queen in this anime, simply because happiness is not in the breasts, but in everything else)
Ashiya, aka General Alciel, is generally great. Mao's closest friend, his first follower and chief general. After landing on Earth, she becomes a housewife, a caring mother of Satan, from a wise general. Very responsible, excellent cook, if not for Ashiya Mao, he would not have lived a day. However, it plays an important role, it is she who changes the heroes in many ways, showing them how spiritual people can be and what is really worth fighting for.
Urushihara, General Lucifer, fallen angel, favorite of female fans. A very entertaining character. I really like him, and I do not understand the criticism of his person. Everyone picks on Urushihara because after the defeat, he became a nerd and slipped into the image of an Extra. But this is justified by the authors. Think about it, it is said, Urushihara is a nerd. Zadroty such, they are lazy, do not like to take a direct part in the events. It's funny how the rest of the characters react to him, "Chmyryat" and feed harmful Rolton. It's also very close to me. However, the series is moving due to its pluses. Excellent, charismatic characters who play their roles wonderfully. (Not banal, which is very important for me personally) An interesting story, thoughtful parallel world and magic. Kind humor. Entertaining battles, high-quality action. Maou in true form is uplifting at the moment. The good news is that there is much less magic in the series than simple everyday situations on behalf of demons and angels. It is these everyday situations, the life of three demons in a small room, the work of Satan in McRonald, spying on Amy, jealous of Chiho, etc. belong to the series. Pleased with the absence of vulgarity in humor. The humor is generally very high quality and decent. Where necessary, there is both pathos and dynamics, in general, the narrative is extremely balanced. Just flawless drawing and graphics in general. Excellent musical accompaniment, the opening is generally magnificent.
"Satan on the side" anime that addictive. You are literally imbued with love for the characters, very simple and sincere. The humor is based on situations, on the communication of old enemies, on human emotions that are unusual for demons. Naturally, "Mao" is not perfect, and does not pull on a masterpiece. But his lightness, his sincerity and characters dear to the heart will undoubtedly fall in love with anyone who is not looking for a masterpiece in everything he looks at.
Hataraku Maou-sama definitely deserves an 8 out of 10 rating. I'm looking forward to the second season.
